Aripeka West News ~ July 2011

A Message from BJ
Welcome to Summer at Aripeka West Mobile Home & RV Park.
I would like to announce that we have new managers in the Park. As most of you know, Ken and Bill resigned to accept positions with new employers at the end of May.  In mid June I asked Gail and Karl Hosp to assume the management position and they have joined my team.  Please let them know if you have any problems that need to be addressed.  You may call them at (727) 868-9324.  They reside in Lot #2 in the RV Park.
Also returning to my team is longtime resident Karl Osta. He will be working to keep your yards and the common areas looking nice, as well as performing maintenance around the park.
It’s Party Time at Aripeka West
On Friday July 1st at 6PM, we will kick off July 2011 with a B-B-Q at the Pavilion in the RV Park.  We will be cooking Hotdogs and Hamburgers with all the trimmings, there will be some very good food and some fun conversation too!  If you would like to bring a covered dish, that would be great.  Soft drinks will be provided.

It’s Hot & Humid~It’s Summer in Aripeka
While we certainly expect it to be hot in Aripeka in the summertime, this year seems to be off to an even hotter start than normal.  With the temps in the mid 90’s, now is the time to take a look at the filters in your A/C unit and make sure they are clean.  Clean filters allow you’re A/C to run more economically and more efficiently, keeping you cooler for less money.
We are also entering the rainy season and we are hoping for some much needed rainfall, but right now, we are as dry as a tender-box, so please no fires except in grills.  I know that the 4th of July is approaching, but Pasco County has a Fire Ban in place until further notice and included in the ban is the use fireworks.  Pasco and many of the nearby counties will have Public Fireworks Displays, so if you love Fireworks, please plan to attend one of the public displays.
Several water leaks have recently been discovered both in the Mobile Home and RV Park. Please check around your homes for any leaks and report them to management for repair.  Your help in reporting these leaks will make finding and repairing them much faster.
Please also check around your home for containers where water can accumulate when it rains and remove them or otherwise eliminate the possibility of them holding water.  As we all know, mosquitoes can be very bad in Aripeka during the summer rainy season and we don’t want to set up any breeding areas in the park.  Mosquitoes lay their eggs and the standing water allows them to hatch. Tires, buckets, anything that can hold water will allow these mosquitoes to hatch.  Pasco County does send their truck around often to spray, they also use 4-wheelers to go into the surrounding woods to spray and a helicopter drops pellets to keep the eggs from hatching in the waterways that meander through Aripeka , but they can use our help too, so be on the lookout for any possible containers that will hold rain water.

We are continuing to work on upgrading the Wi-Fi at Aripeka West.  We know that not all of the residents currently are able to access our Wi-Fi signal, soon we hope that all residents who want to use the park’s Wi-Fi will be able to do so.  Please be patient with us while we install the necessary equipment upgrades.
We are also working to upgrade our Website, www.aripekawest.com, this will take a little bit of time, but when it is done it will provide information about our little park to all who search the web.
We are on Facebook!
Yes, it’s true, Aripeka West has a Facebook Page.  We have posted pictures of area interest and information about upcoming events.  Please “Like” our page and you will be able to keep up with things here in the park.  Just do a Facebook search for Aripeka West MH & RV Park and click on “like”.  I have posted links to Firework Displays in our area and I have also posted link explaining the BAN on FIREWORKS and FIRES in Pasco County.
Geocaching~ Discover the fun?
Gail and Karl recently introduced me to a new sport, it is called Geocaching.  It is a treasure hunting game played by using a computer and a GPS or a SmartPhone.  It is fun for all ages, from small children to senior citizens.  Couples will enjoy it, as will families, all you need is a computer and a GPS or just a SmartPhone will work for you.  Visit Geocaching.com and set up a free account to begin your adventure.  Many hidden “treasures” (Caches) are located nearby Aripeka West.  The fun is in the hunt because the “treasures” are anything from small trinkets for trading to “trackable” coins and tags to just a small piece of paper to log your visit.  When you find a Cache, you simple log your visit on the log sheet located in the Cache, trade a trinket or two if you want and place the Cache back in exactly the same place and hidden in exactly the same way as you found it.  Then the Cache is ready for the next person to find.   You need to also log your visit on Geocaching.com, this can be done from your SmartPhone or from your computer.  Have fun, and Happy Caching!
We are planning a Yard Sale
On July 16th we are going to have a Yard Sale, everyone in the Mobile Home and RV Park is invited to participate.  We will place signs on the roads to advertise the sale and also place an ad on Craigslist.  It will be held on the field across from the office to allow for easy parking and to keep the traffic out of the Mobile Home Park.  It begin around 8AM and end in the early afternoon.  If you are interested, please contact Gail.
